Hipster, how are thou

The interwebz is the home of hipsterdom. Sanctuary, a place of tormented self-expression and polaroid blogs. Frankly, I love everything like that. I don’t ride a bike, I don’t own an iphone, and I don’t drink boutique beer at underground lounges. But I do love reading poetry in the sun and self-deprecation.

Urban Dictionary’s definition of hipsters (oh how they’d loathe to be defined).

Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20’s and 30’s that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.

Ironic self-aware hipster blogs

Unhappy hipsters (Pretty houses juxtaposed with hipster captions)

Someday they’d laugh about it, but, for the time being, it was hard to ignore that the knotty pine did read as bullet holes.

Stuff Hipsters Hate

Die Hipster

Look at this fucking hipster

And just a prove I’m not hipster (cough): Writing Quote of the Week

“All writers are vain, selfish and lazy, and at the very bottom of their motives there lies a mystery. Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like  a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand. For all ones knows that demon is simply the same instinct that makes a baby squall for attention.” – George Orwell
