Wet Sunday

I made the most of the wonderful Wellington weather (read: wet) by getting up early for a wander in the botanic gardens followed by a leisurely hour writing in a Thorndon cafe. Most perfect moment of my week, until some bitches came in and chose the table next to me to carry on a loud nasal conversation about their dire love lives. Thanks for that. Ironically, I was writing about how much people have been irritating me this week.

I forgot that I love stream-of-consciousness writing, when you just allow the pen to take your mind where it wants to go, to lead you to some new place, some new level of consciousness and understanding. I reached some very interesting conclusions.

Someone told me this week that I have to realise I will never know everything, I will never fix everything, and I will never find the perfect word. You know what, person? Fuck you. I’m going to keep trying anyway.

Anyway, time for my random images of the week.

Please can I high five your face?

Pot. It makes you gay.

Do kittens make you gay too?

From Fuck yeah, literary quotes:

Just for the record, the weather today is calm and sunny, but the air is full of bullshit. – Diary, Chuck Palahniuk
Love is hard to believe, ask any lover. Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist. God is hard to believe, ask any believer. What’s your problem with hard to believe? – Life of Pi, Yann Martel
It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious. – Lady Windermere’s Fan, Oscar Wilde

There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic. – The Thirteenth Tale, Diane Setterfield
